May Lin DeHaan is an experienced patent and trademark attorney who handles all patent prosecution for the Firm. Ms. DeHaan has prosecuted patents domestically and internationally covering a broad array of technology, including software, electronics, biotechnology and mechanical inventions.

David Morales

David Morales has represented business and nonprofit clients in matters relating to technology, real estate development, healthcare, agriculture, e-commerce, entertainment, publishing, and visual arts matters. Mr. Morales has litigated real estate, business, and intellectual property matters in the California Superior Courts, in the United States District Courts in several states, as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. As outside general counsel, Mr. Morales is experienced in a variety of real estate, business and technology transactions, trademark and copyright enforcement, as well as in labor contract negotiations, and employment discrimination matters.
Prior to law school, Mr. Morales earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a graduate degree in Economic Policy from Princeton University. Mr. Morales subsequently worked in civil engineering and in international development prior to returning to the United States to attend law school.

Mr. Morales earned a Certificate in Taxation Law from the U. C. Law, San Francisco (formerly U. C. Hastings College of the Law), the oldest law school west of the Mississippi. Following law school, Mr. Morales served as a Staff Attorney with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where he handled a variety of intellectual property, taxation, civil rights and immigration appeals. Mr. Morales then practiced business and intellectual property law with two of the leading firms on the Central Coast.
Mr. Morales is the former Vice-Chairperson of the Trade Secrets Committee of the California State Bar, Intellectual Property Section. Mr. Morales is admitted to practice before the United States Federal Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the California Supreme Court.

Ms. DeHaan is an experienced patent and trademark attorney who handles all patent prosecution for the Firm. Ms. DeHaan has prosecuted patents domestically and internationally covering a broad array of technology, including software, electronics, biotechnology and mechanical inventions.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. DeHaan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California, and had an extensive career as an aerospace engineer for Rockwell International, Inc. As an engineer, Ms. DeHaan developed improvements to structural optimization software for conceptual aircraft design, and researched polymer and ceramic applications for the Rockwell International Science Center.
Ms. DeHaan earned her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law and worked as a patent attorney for law firms in Southern California and on California's Central Coast. Ms. DeHaan has extensive experience prosecuting patents, domestically and internationally, in a wide variety of technologies, including software, semiconductors, consumer electronics, digital signal processing, light emitting diodes (LEDs), chemistry, materials science, biomedical inventions, mechanical devices, optics, telecommunications, as well as e-commerce and other business methods. Ms. DeHaan also has experience in patentability and non-infringement opinion work, IP portfolio management, and licensing.
Ms. DeHaan is a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the California State Bar, and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), and the California Supreme Court. Ms. DeHaan has been inducted into the Sigma Gamma Tau Aerospace Honor Society and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Research and Writing.
